Balak Rao Parihar created the 1 km long lake in 1159 AD. The lake is bordered by fruit trees such as papaya, mango, plum, pomegranate, guava, and others, which attract jackals, peacocks, and monkeys. Day 2 - Sight-seeing in Jodhpur

After breakfast on the second day of your desert safari Rajasthan Jodhpur, you will depart for Jodhpur city sightseeing. You will see Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhavan Palace, Ghanta Ghar, and the clock tower, which are all popular sights in Jodhpur.

The Mehrangarh Fort is ideal for history aficionados. The fort is located on a hilltop at 410 feet in elevation and is surrounded by a strong wall. Inside the fort, there are several exquisite palaces, each with its own distinct individuality. The fort also has a museum with a variety of musical instruments, palanquins, furniture, and cannons. After the film "The Dark Knight Rises" was shot here, the fort became internationally recognised. The elaborate carvings on the walls and the grandeur of the palaces attract visitors to the red stone-built fort.

The Jaswant Thada mausoleum, a beautiful marble edifice above a small lake, is located on the left side of the Mehrangarh fort. Because of its elaborate carvings, this monument is known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar. This is a peaceful location erected in 1899 A.D. in commemoration of Rathore king Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.

Visit the Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, which is located near the fort. The park was established in 2006 to promote greenery and to restore the ecology of the rocky terrain.

The splendour of royal existence is reflected in Umaid Bhavan Palace. The palace was created in memory of the late Maharaja Umaid Singh, and a portion of it has been handed to the Taj group. The gorgeous palace features a museum with royal clocks, old cars, and other objects on show.

Following that, you can explore sites such as Kaylana Lake and Phool Mahal. Both are well-known for their distinct beauty. Pratap Singh developed Kaylana, an artificial lake, in 1872. During the winter, you can see Siberian cranes on the lakeshore. Following that, you can go to the Phool Mahal Palace. This palace turned heritage hotel is one of the city's main attractions.

Day 4 - Sightseeing in Jaisalmer

After spending the night in the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer, you will spend today exploring the yellow stone palaces and Havelis of India's golden city.

You will see Jaisalmer Fort, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, a stunning 300-year-old home, Patwon Ki Haveli, a 5-story mansion unique to the city, Gadi Sagar tank, an oasis, and the Heritage Museum.

Due to its enigmatic splendour, Jaisalmer Fort is also known as the Golden Fort or (Sonar Qila, as made famous by the Satyajit Roy film). The yellow sandstone from which the fort is constructed gleams like gold in the sunlight. The fort is located 1.5 kilometres from the centre of Jaisalmer city on Trikuta Hill. The Bhati Rajput prince Maharawal Jaisal Singh erected it in 1156 AD, and it is now a World Heritage Site. The magnificent fort features a number of palaces that are adorned with fascinating carvings and sculptures. The Maharawal Palace, famous for its marble throne, is the most gorgeous. Visit the fort's museum, which displays the splendour of the Rajput monarchy, such as arms, costumes, utensils, and ornaments. The Jaisalmer Fort is regarded as one of the world's most gorgeous and glorious forts.

You can tour the spiritual location in the fort after exploring the historical highlights. Visit the oldest temples in Jaisalmer, the Jain temples.

Salim Singh was the prime minister of Jaisalmer at the time. The palace that bears his name is located near the Jaisalmer Fort. Because its front facet resembles the stern of a ship, it is also known as the Jahaz Mahal. Tourists are drawn to the palace by its finely carved roof and royal paintings on the walls. The mansion was originally the same height as the king's palace, but the king was not pleased and demolished the top two floors.

The Patwon Ki Haveli is located in a tiny road 500 metres from Jaisalmer Fort. Guman Chand Patwa, a wealthy merchant, built the earliest fort in Jaisalmer. It is a mash-up of five unique Havelis that he created for his five sons, all of which are appealing due to the elaborate decorations and paintings on the walls. One of the Havelis has been converted into an archaeological museum, displaying a large collection of antique furniture, ornamental artefacts, and traditional art items made by the inhabitants.

The artificial water reservoir Gadi Sagar tank is 1.5 kilometres from the Fort. The lake, built by Raja Rawal Jaisal, was originally a rainfall reservoir that now receives water from the Indira Gandhi Canal all year. You may see migratory birds on the lake's edge and explore the temples that encircle it.

Another must-see sight is the Desert Cultural Centre and Heritage Museum. Mr. N. K. Sharma built the museum in 1997 to highlight Jaisalmer's traditional arts and crafts. Visit the desert national park, which is home to desert fox, Chinkara, desert cat, Bengal fox, hedgehog, blackbuck, and other species.

In Jaisalmer, you can also visit the Bada Bag or Big Garden, a historical landmark. It is not a garden of trees or plants, but it does have a number of royal family cenotaphs called chhatris. Each cenotaph created in memory of the kings and queens is etched with the person's name.

Day 5 - Departure

You will check out of your hotel after breakfast and be dropped off at the railway station/airport to catch your train/plane back home.
