Travel Insurance for Toursist Visting India
Travel insurance for India is not mandatory in order to enter the country. However, due to remote areas and to increased risks throughout the country, it's a smart move to purchase travel health insurance for India.
If you’re travelling to India, our travel advice and updates give you practical tips and useful information.
Foreign citizens ( Apart from Nepalese & Butanis) require a visa to travel to India. If you arrive in India without a visa, you will be refused entry. If you over-stay your visa, you will be fined and may be prosecuted or detained and later deported. If you lose your passport, you will have to obtain an exit visa before you can leave India.
If you are transiting through India, you may need a transit visa if you must collect your baggage to transfer it to another airline or if you are travelling on multiple bookings. Baggage collection areas in Indian airports are normally after clearing immigration.
Visa Policy for India
India’s visa policy outlines the requirements, rules, and regulations for foreign nationals traveling to the South Asian country.
The vast majority of visitors from abroad require a visa for India. There are different types of visa available, depending on the nationality of the traveler, the length of time they plan to stay in the country, and the purpose of the visit.
The electronic visa or e-Visa for India is available for the majority of nationalities. It can be obtained by completing a simple online application form. The India e-Visa is processed quickly and delivered to the applicant by email.
Three types of e-Visa for India exist: the India Tourist e-Visa, the India Medical e-Visa, and the India Business e-Visa. Each of these permits foreign nationals to stay in India for a short period of time for the specified purpose.
Citizens of a number of countries are not able to apply online and must obtain a visa from an Indian embassy instead.
Indian embassy visas and permits are also available for foreign nationals who wish to relocate to India, work or study in the country, or stay for longer periods than the e-Visas permit.
According to the visa policy of India, nationals of a select few sovereign states may enter the country visa-free and stay indefinitely. They also have the right to live and work in India without requiring any visas or permits.
Citizens of one country, the Maldives, may enter India visa-free for up to 90 days.
Tourist Visa Policy for India
Foreign nationals visiting India for tourism must obtain an Indian tourist visa, with the exception of the small number of visa-exempt nationalities.
There are 2 types of tourist visa for India: the electronic visa and the consular visa.
Visitors from most countries are eligible to apply online for the India e-Visa. There are several types of e-Visa for India, depending on the purpose of the visit. One of these is the India Tourist e-Visa. This permits the holder to visit the country for up to 90 consecutive days for the purpose of tourism.
This is available as a multiple-entry visa that permits the holder to visit the country for up to 90 consecutive days for the purpose of tourism (180 days for some nationalities). It is also available as a double-entry e-Visa that permits a total stay of 30 days.
Citizens of around 70 countries must instead apply for a tourist visa for India at an overseas diplomatic mission like an embassy or consulate.
All foreign nationals who intend to stay in India for more than 90 days as a tourist must obtain the relevant Indian visa from an embassy.
Visitors from a select few countries do not require a visa to visit India as a tourist, although one of these has a limit of 90 days (for longer stays, an embassy visa is required).
Regardless of which Indian tourist visa is needed, international travelers must provide supporting documents and meet the necessary requirements when completing their application.
India's transport system is constantly being improved to accommodate the nation's over one billion residents. Today, both locals and visitors can travel via bus, taxi, ferry, modern rail system, and more than 30 international airports. Due to the abundance of possibilities, moving around densely populated cities is often considerably simpler than doing so in rural areas.
Every traveler's voyage will be unique as a result of this reality. When making your India itinerary, make sure to investigate not just where you're going and how you're going to get there, but also how much each method of transportation will cost. Take a bus or rail instead of flying, for instance, if you plan to travel primarily within one region of the country. However, if time is of the essence and you need to get between two major cities that are spread out across the nation, flying can be your only choice.
If you intend to stay in one place for several days, you can save money by biking, walking, using a rickshaw, or calling a taxi. Just be mindful of the security of various modes of transportation, as walking might be a little risky in areas without clearly defined pavements.
Similar to this, city roadways are frequently quite congested with vehicles, motorcycles, rickshaws, and even cows. While hiring a motorbike or bicycle could be less expensive, you might feel safer spending a little more money on a more secure choice. This is especially true for travellers to India for the first time.
It is mandatory for all tourists (other than Nepal, Bhutanese) to obtain a Indian Visa before travelling to India. The Indian visa has to be processed via a government approved travel agency.
Next we will send you the visa confirmation code. You must carry a printed copy of the visa confirmation code and your flight tickets as these need to be produced at the check-in counter at Paro International Airport.

Things to keep in mind before selecting a destination
When a traveler's mind desires to visit the beaches, mountains, or a forest, there is nothing to say. However, understanding how to plan a trip successfully requires selecting the appropriate destination based on the season.
Find out when is the best time to visit each destination. The best time to visit beaches and mountains is usually different. When choosing a destination, keep the cost in mind. Some locations are more enjoyable to visit on a luxury budget than others. Going to a luxury destination during the shoulder season (a few weeks before or after the official 'busy season') can result in some good hotel and flight discounts.
People should prioritise traveller safety before embarking on their journey (especially solo female travelers).
Accessibility, or lack thereof, is another factor that can influence whether or not a person chooses to visit a particular location. To support the tourist influx, popular destinations generally have a large number of daily flights, trains, and good highway infrastructure.
