After a great breakfast on the second day of your adventure, you will start on a sightseeing tour of the country's National Capital. The Delhi tour will take you to some of the city's most popular tourist attractions as well as historical sites. The places to visit include the following:
Red Fort: The Red Fort was built in 1639 and served as the principal home of the Mughal Emperors. Following independence, the Prime Minister hoists the national flag of the country on Independence Day, which is observed on the 15th of August each year.
Jama Masjid: Jama Masjid is one of the country's largest Mosques or Masjids. The original name of the Masjid is Masjid-e-Jahan-Numa, while the Jama Masjid is a short name that is popularly known by the people. It was built in 1656 by the Mughal rulers.
India Gate: India Gate is a military memorial created by the I.W.G.C, which was the Imperial military Graves Commission formed by the Britishers, in memory of the soldiers who died in the First World War. Amar Javan Jyoti is a black marble plinth outside India Gate with an army helmet atop an L1A1 self-loading rifle and surrounded by four eternal flames.
Raj Ghat: Raj Ghat has functioned as a memorial for many past well-known leaders and those who have served the country. Raj Ghat is famous for housing the memorials of Jawaharlal Nehru, Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Jagjivan Ram, Giani Zail Singh, Choudhary Charan Singh, Shankar Dayal Sharma, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chandra Shekhar, I.K. Gujral, and Devi Lal.
Humayun’s Tomb: Maqbara-i-Humayun or Humayun ka Maqbara: Humayun's Tomb is also known as Maqbara-i-Humayun or Humayun ka Maqbara. It is primarily the mausoleum of Mughal Emperor Humayun, although it also contains the tombs of Humayun's wives, Bega Begum and Hamidi Begum, as well as the graves of many other Mughal monarchs.
